About Us
Each year, students across North America participating in Miracle Network Dance Marathons stay awake and on their feet to raise money and awareness for their local Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. Blazer-A-Thon Miracle Network Dance Marathon at Valdosta State Univeristy hosts an annual 12-hour event benefiting the patients of UF Health Shands Children's Hospital in Gainesville, Florida, our Children's Miracle Network hospital. In 2015, Blazer-A-Thon raised a grand total of $24,061.76 for UF Health Shands Children's Hospital, our local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital.
More than 8,500 pediatric patients visit UF Health Shands Children’s Hospital, our regions local Children's Miracle Netowrk hospital, each year. All of the funds raised through Blazer-A-Thon go directly to purchase state-of-the-art medical equipment, fund research grants and educational programs, and purchase toys and other items to help make the children’s stay at the hospital more enjoyable. In addition, donations help fund research for cures for some of the most common yet incurable diseases such as diabetes, cystic fibrosis and cancer.
Along with our four sister schools we form the Shands Family, a group of universities all dedicated to raising money for the kids of Shands.
